The youngest lot on campus has just successfully pulled off their annual event Art de la Monde (i.e. Art of the World) for the second year running. The exhibition was held yesterday from 9am-4pm and was highly appreciated by one and all.

The exhibition was a platform for students to give outsiders an idea of what they'd learnt throughout the year. Displays on show included artful glass paintings, innovative clay models, hand-made pottery, scrapbooks, charts on the history of art as well as intricately-carved candles. A radio belting out the latest numbers set the mood and every student could be seen actively involved in the execution of this event.

The most popular stall at the exhibition seemed to be the art competition that was open to the public. Members of the public were invited to pick up those brushes and "reach out to the artist within" them. Winners were chosen on the basis of their work and awarded small prizes. Their work was then pinned up on the wall outside specially devoted to the 'Winner's Corner'.

The batch of 21 youngsters were a very lively and energetic bunch, who co-ordinated the entire event to the last detail, with the help of thier Head of Department, Ms. Zakiya Ansari. The students took care of everything, right from the floor plan of the exhibition hall to the posters for the event. The students were highly enthusiastic about their experience and were all praise for their professor. "It was an amazing experience and we had a lot of fun doing it. It was definitely worth bringing a smile to Zakiya ma'am's face and making her proud to call us her students," they said.

The response received was equally encouraging for all involved. "We really appreciated the feedback we got from everyone. We got a lot of compliments from people who didn't expect this much out of us."

Without a doubt, at the day's end, Art de la Monde was definitely a major success, for through the creativity of this small group, its students opened up eyes to a whole new world of art indeed.
