New Newspaper at Your Doorstep

Leading English dailies of the UAE need to watch out, because hitting the print scene is a new English daily newspaper to be launched in the capital. The National, is being released by the Abu Dhabi Media Company, which is owned by the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

"The broadsheet newspaper will be called The National and contain 80 pages of news, business, arts and culture, and sport, state-owned ADMC said. It said an online version of the newspaper would also be available at www.thenational.ae." (ArabianBusiness.com)

Abu Dhabi Media Company, last year appointed former Daily Telegraph editor Martin Newland who is a former editor of the UK's Daily Telegraph. The paper has hired some 200 journalists from Britain, South Africa, Australia, the US and Canada.

Heres hoping the competition will boost the existing newspapers to hone their reporting skills.

Watch out for the newspapers online edition starting from 17 April, 2008 at www.thenational.ae
