Media Students visit 'PhotoWorld - Dubai 2008'

Students from the Department of Media and Communications went on an industry visit to 'PhotoWorld - Dubai 2008', an International Digital and Imaging Exhibition for the Midddle East. The exhibition is being held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, from 8th - 10th April.
The event, which is being held for the fourth time, focuses on imaging and photography. The exhibition has stalls displaying photography-related equipment (by Canon, Nikon and Sony among others) as well as exhibits of merit-winning photographs.
There are a series of splendid photographs on display by 'Light Chasers', a professional group of photography enthusiasts based in Abu Dhabi. Another exhibit has photographic work by the 'Qatar Photographic Society', which seeks to promote photography in Qatar and encourage emerging talents in the field by holding lectures and discussions on photography.
One of the main highlights of the exhibition is the series of free interactive workshops and seminars being held by 'SWPP' (The Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers) & 'BPPA' (The British Professional Photographers Associates). The topics for these range from capturing photographs and lighting techniques to portrait retouching and use of imaging software.

MAHE's Media students interacted with professionals and learnt more about camera techniques and new production skills during their visit.
('PhotoWorld - Dubai 2008' is open from 11a.m. - 8p.m. at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 8th - 10th, 2008).
