Media Students attend Dubai Lynx 2008

One of the many mantras of advertising that kept bouncing off students who were part of one of the biggest, exciting and prestigious advertising festivals in the Middle East.

Five students from the Department of Media and Communications attended the Dubai Lynx 2008 - the 1st Dubai International Advertising Festival from 31 April to 2nd April, 2008 held in the Sheikh Rashid Hall at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The students attended three days of seminars and workshops addressing key issues that affect and shape the advertising industry, by some of the most influential people in the world of advertising. The students were able to participate in forums where the professionals shared their thoughts, ideas and expertise bringing inspiration and learning opportunities.

Dubai Lynx 2008 was presented by Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival together with their regional partners, Motivate Publishing, the Dubai International Advertising Festival is held with the support of Dubai Media City (DMC) and in association with the UAE Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA).

There was also an exhibition of the Dubai Lynx Awards shortlisted entries in the categories of TV/Cinema, Print, Outdoor, Radio, Direct Marketing, Media and Interactive advertising.

The students who attended Dubai Lynx 2008 were: Arun Thomas, Mario Sharbel Dias, Supriya Antonia Dominica, Mita Ramesh Mirchandani and Asma Sajjad Shaikh. Arun Thomas said "it was a great experience out there.... apart from college...we were able to experience what's the real advertising world like and how international advertising differs from what is present in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region."

They also thanked Dubai Media City and its officials who sponsored the students for Dubai Lynx 2008.
